He's been a monster to me for so long. [It began before he shot her, really, though of course that changed the paradigm.] I've always believed...mercy, redemption, they're important. [Cass knows that already, of course.] Lord, I gave Savant a job after I threatened to tear his lungs out.

[And both offers were equally sincere.]

But him. He's different. [She frowns, and the wheels turn in her head, because that means she gives him more power than any of the others.]
